Te Whau Syrah

Te Whau Syrah

Our metre-by-metre planting of chave-clone Syrah produces very low yields resulting in an elegant, intense Rhone-style wine that ages beautifully.

50 cases per annum.

On a steep and very sheltered north-facing slope just above Te Whau Bay we grow 800 Chave-clone Syrah vines. The vineyard is modelled on the Rhône growing method – metre-by-metre Goblet vines trained on posts, with very low yields.  18 months in French oak.

The resultant wine has a beautiful core of ripe fruit, elegant and subtly powerful in the Rhône style, and a lingering finish. Bob Campbell MW rates our Syrah as the finest on Waiheke Island. Who are we to argue!
